Transperineal Focal Laser Ablation Makes RSNA News
Dr. Eric Walser, the newest member of Sperling Prostate Center’s clinical team, is co-author of a paper on Transperineal Focal Laser Ablation (TPLA). The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) posted news of this breakthrough focal therapy for prostate cancer in their Sep. 16, 2026 RSNA News. Dr. Walser was Clinical Director at the only U.S. research site involved in the international study.
According to the news story, “Findings from an international registry study suggest that transperineal focal laser ablation may offer an effective treatment option for carefully selected men with localized prostate cancer, while helping patients avoid the side effects associated with more aggressive therapies.”
The journal Radiology (June 2026) published the research team’s paper, “One-year Follow-up after US-guided Transperineal Focal Laser Ablation of Localized Prostate Cancer: Worldwide Registry Study.” Congratulations to Dr. Walser and the multinational team of experts who collaborated on this analysis of one-year treatment results for 195 patients who had TPLA. Learn more about TPLA for prostate cancer here. TPLA can also be used to treat the urinary symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Once we receive this secure information, a member of our team will be in touch with you as soon as possible to schedule your consultation.
