Sperling Prostate Center

South Jersey Healthcare and Man To Man Will Host March 28 Meeting

Dr.Dan Sperling, noted innovator in MRI-guided diagnosis and treatment of prostate tumors, will address a Man to Man support group meeting on Wednesday, March 28 from 7-9 pm at South Jersey Healthcare’s Fitness Connection in Vineland, NJ.

Dr. Sperling, a radiologist in Carlstadt, NJ, offers a highly accurate targeted alternative to multi-needle biopsies, which can miss early stage prostate tumors when they are very small and treatable. Using the same MRI visual guidance he uses for biopsy and prostate mapping, he can perform minimally invasive, focused treatments using extreme heat or cold to destroy tumors yet spare healthy tissue. These outpatient treatments are highly effective with almost no risk of damaging side effects that often accompany whole-gland treatments (surgery and radiation).

Among other treatments he offers, Dr. Sperling is a recognized pioneer of MRI-Guided Prostate Laser Ablation he helped to develop. His presentation will focus primarily on this new treatment.

Meeting facilitator Joe Profetto, coordinator for Men’s Cancer at SJH is pleased to welcome Dr. Sperling, who currently serves as Medical Director and Chief of Interventional Radiology at both the New Jersey Institute of Radiology (Carlstadt) and the Sperling Prostate Center (Carlstadt and New York City). He is certified by the American Board of Radiology and licensed in both New York and New Jersey.

The meeting will be held at the South Jersey Healthcare – Fitness Connection at 1430 W. Sherman Ave., Vineland, NJ 08360 (corner of Sherman Ave. and Orchard Rd.). The meeting room is on the second floor (elevator access). All are welcome. For more information, contact Joe Profetto at 856-641-8674 or ProfettoJ@sjhs.com.

Man to Man is an American Cancer Society Prostate Cancer Education and Support Program. Man to Man is a forum for men to learn about prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment options – as well as coping and everyday living – through interactive presentations and materials. Specialists in various fields related to prostate cancer share information on medical topics and quality of life issues. The Vineland Man to Man meeting environment encourages men and their families to discuss their concerns openly and honestly and to share solutions to common problems. The support is for any man; newly diagnosed along with survivors that are encouraged to ease the understanding of prostate cancer among peers. This is an American Cancer Society program assisted by South Jersey Healthcare.
